Per-site wording

A page, post, product or category is written once, but it doesn’t have to read the same everywhere. A site can have its own title, say for its market, without a second copy to maintain. Whatever a site doesn’t override keeps following the main value.

On the entry’s edit page, these fields have an Override link beside their label. It appears only once the entry has been created.

Field Used for
Title (Name on some types) Its name on the site: headings, listings, breadcrumbs, and {{this.title}} in SEO templates.
Page heading The heading on its own page only, on types that have one.
Slug See slugs.
Description Its description on the site, on types that have one.
  1. Click Override. The rows appear below the field.
  2. Use Add Title Override (or the field’s equivalent), then choose the Site and type the value. There can be one per site, so a site already used can’t be picked again.
  3. Save the entry. It updates on that site at once.

Removing a row asks you to confirm, then the site goes back to the main value when you save.

Pickers for a site, such as the menu editor’s, show its titles. A menu item’s label is filled in from this when you pick the entry.

A slug override changes the entry’s URL on one site by the slug alone: its prefix and pattern stay as the site’s rule makes them. It takes lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, and must be unique among that type on that site. The old URL redirects.

Changing the entry’s main slug, by contrast, rebuilds everything beneath it, on every site, in the background. It can create many redirects at once, as the helper text warns.

For a URL with a different pattern altogether, use Site Path Overrides, which beat slug overrides.

Longer differences belong in content blocks. Each block has a globe button. Tick the sites it should show on, then Apply, and save the entry. None ticked means every site. So one page can carry a different paragraph or banner for each site.

  • Meta titles and descriptions for a whole type: SEO templates.
  • Banners and other pieces around the content: widgets.
  • An entry’s own meta title and description have no per-site override on the edit page. Vary them through a template per site, using {{site.name}} and the overridden {{this.title}}.
